Disability and Paid Family Leave benefits are administered by the Fund Office (through the Enrollment/Eligibility Department) and are paid by The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York. Below are some information regarding the disability and paid family leave benefits.

Disability Benefits
If you become disabled, call the Enrollment/Eligibility Department immediately at 516-488-2822, to file a claim.
Answer: Yes, you may be entitled to short term disability, for up to 26 weeks.
Answer: No, you cannot apply for disability. If you are injured at work, you may be entitled to workers’ compensation benefit through your employer. However, you should contact the Enrollment Department for additional information.
Answer: No, you cannot. Disability is when you are unable to work due to your illness or injury (not work related). Unemployment is when you are willing, able and ready to work and there’s no work available.
If you need to apply for Paid Family Leave (New York or New Jersey), please call the Enrollment/Eligibility Department at 516-488-2822 to file a claim.
Answer: Yes, you can. If your family member is seriously ill or injured and needs you to care of him or her, you may be entitled to Paid Family Leave.
Answer: You may be entitled to Paid Family Leave for up to 10 weeks.
Answer: Yes, you may be entitled to Paid Family Leave to bond and care for your baby.
Answer: No, you cannot. If you are sick, you may be entitled to disability.
