Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I along with the Local 282 Executive Board am pleased to start Local 282’s Ninth Annual Scholarship Fund. With the soaring costs of college tuitions this scholarship fund will help the children of Local 282 members defray the costs of their college education.
The scholarship awards will be for high school seniors who graduate in 2019 and start college or an accredited technical school in September 2019. To be eligible to submit an application, a student must be a dependent of an active Local 282 member. All phases of the scholarship competition, including selection of winners are handled by The International Scholarship and Tuition Services (ISTS).
Applications must be submitted before November 16, 2018.
Winners are selected based on several factors including leadership qualities, seriousness of purpose, high school academic record, extra curricular activities, and test scores as well as writing samples from the applicant.
All awards will be sent directly to the colleges at which award winners are enrolled and credited to the students account for payment of authorized college expenses (tuition, room and board for college operated accommodations and all other usual and similar fee’s).
